Chloe Moretz to Lead Unique Black Listed Zombie Drama 'Maggie'
With a role alongside a vampire in Dark Shadows, after becoming one herself in Let Me In, it's time for Chloe Moretz to step into the shoes of another iconic horror monster. Variety reports Ms. Moretz will play the titular character in Maggie, a drama about a 16-year old girl from a town in middle America who becomes infected by a zombie. However, this film is different then your average zombie flick as it actually takes six months for the girl to turn into a zombie and the story follows the affect it has on her family, mainly her father who continues to have nothing but unconditional love for his teenage daughter. Kurt Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen Freed from 'Django Unchained'
Not all news is good news, and it sounds like there's been more than a few bouts of bad luck when it comes to casting Quentin Tarantino's western Django Unchained. First, Kevin Costner had to step out of his role as Ace Woody, the right-hand man of ruthless plantation/slave-owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt has also been forced to step out of his role due to scheduling because of his directorial debut. Thankfully, Death Proof Kurt Russell stepped in for the former actor as the secondary villain, but it appears some trouble on the set has caused Russell walk away from the film. ›››

McConaughey, Rickman, & More Attached to Lee Daniels' 'The Butler'
Since he left romantic comedies behind in 2009, Matthew McConaughey has been reclaiming his spot in the industry as a respectable leading man. He recently worked with John Cusack on Lee Daniels' The Paperboy, the director's follow-up to his Oscar-nominated Precious. According to THR, there's a reunion in the works since McConaughey is now attached to star alongside Cusack in Daniels' upcoming historical drama The Butler, led by Forrest Whitaker as a White House servant who worked under the reign of eight presidents. Cuba Gooding Jr., Alan Rickman, and Terrence Howard are all attached, too. Read on! ›››

Kyle Chandler To Hunt Leonardo DiCaprio in 'The Wolf of Wall Street'
After a breakout performance in J.J. Abrams' Super 8 last year, it seems Kyle Chandler is on the edge of true stardom (on the big screen). He's gearing up for a big project this year with Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty (formerly Kill Bin Laden), and Deadline reports that the actor has now secured a role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill in Martin Scorsese's newest movie, The Wolf of Wall Street. He'll play FBI Agent Coleman, the man who tracks and eventually catches Jordan Belfort, an up-and-coming Wall Street stockbroker who gets wildly successful and subsequently gets caught up in drugs, excess, and greed. ›››

Jon Hamm Dives into World of Sports in 'Million Dollar Arm' Drama
For several years, Jon Hamm has become better known as Don Draper, one of the best men working in advertising back in the 60's on the AMC drama series "Mad Men." Of course, Hamm has also taken supporting roles in a variety of films like Bridesmaids, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Town and even bit parts in The A-Team and Sucker Punch (though his role is better in the director's cut). Now Hamm is slated to lead a project, likely while he's on hiatus between seasons of the aforementioned Emmy winning series, as Deadline reports he will star in Million Dollar Arm, a real-life drama set in the world of sports. ›››

Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler Team Up for Romantic Comedy Parody
On the NBC comedy series "Parks & Recreation" there's been an interesting race for a City Council position between series lead Leslie Knope, played by Amy Poehler, and Bobby Newport, guest star Paul Rudd, and it's been fantastic. However, it sounds like the two will also be seen together on the big screen for the first time since Wet Hot American Summer in 2001 (which also has a sequel coming sometime down the road). Variety reports Rudd and Poehler will lead They Came Together, a romantic comedy parody from Role Models director David Wain, who also helmed the aforementioned summer camp comedy parody. ›››

Hayley Atwell to Lead a Pseudo '10 Things I Hate About You' Sequel
Though she had plenty of recognizable work before her turn in Captain America: The First Avenger, the comic book film gave actress Hayley Atwell a whole new world of opportunities in action films (she'll be seen in The Sweeney later this year across the pond). Of course, she still has a pretty face perfect for romance and the like, so it's not surprising that she's taking on a less action-packed role for a new project. What is surprising though is that Variety says Atwell's new gig is 10 Things I Hate About Life, a pseudo sequel to the seminal 1999 teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About You, truly a nostalgic favorite of mine. ›››

Jonah Hill May Get in Oscar Race Again with 'The Wolf of Wall Street'
Last year, a fantastic supporting turn in Moneyball turned plenty of heads towards Jonah Hill as not just a young funnyman, but a charismatic, dramatic actor as well. His work in the adaptation even landed him an Oscar nomination, but alas, the statue went to Christopher Plummer for his performance in Beginners. However, it looks like Hill might get the chance to chase Oscar again as Deadline reports the actor will join Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf on Wall Street, an adaptation of Jordan Belfort's memoir of the same name adapted by "Boardwalk Empire" scribe Terence Winter and directed by a guy named Martin Scorsese. ›››

Amber Heard & Sofia Vergara Join Robert Rodriguez's 'Machete Kills'
In addition to Mel Gibson confirmed for a villainous role in Machete Kills and Michelle Rodriguez reprising her role alongside Danny Trejo, there's now two more lovely ladies joining the grindhouse mix. Variety has word that Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family") and Amber Heard (Drive Angry) have taken roles in the sequel. Vergara will play leather-clad Madame Desdemona, whose Mexican harlots have information that Machete needs (sounds like a testosterone-filled man's dream come true) and Heard is playing a manipulative assassin code-named Miss San Antonio. And there's another returning cast member. ›››

Kellan Lutz & Spencer Locke Head to the Jungle as 'Tarzan' and Jane
Last summer we learned that Footloose remake and Hustle & Flow director Craig Brewer was looking at a possible Tarzan trilogy at Warner Bros, but the studio was also looking at a competing project. However, In August of 2010, Constantin Films had already announced development of a new animated Tarzan film which would be taking more cues from Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan novels, the first of which, Tarzan of the Apes, was published in 1912. Now that project finally has some new development as Heat Vision reports Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga) and Spencer Locke (Detention) will play Tarzan and Jane. More below! ›››

Sharlto Copley Also Joining Disney's 'Maleficent' with Angelina Jolie
Man, Sharlto Copley has been nabbing some good roles recently. He was just confirmed to star as the villain in Spike Lee's Oldoy remake, and is also lining up a spot in some horror-thriller called Open Grave, from the guy who directed Apollo 18. Now Deadline says he's also in negotiations to star as the male lead, big role, in Disney's Maleficent movie, that Angelina Jolie is starring in with production designer-turned-director Robert Stromberg. Copley is really going all out, with a major lead in a Disney movie? He's also got roles in two big sci-fi projects: Europa (first look here) plus Neill Blomkamp's Elysium, already in the can. ›››

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Developing a 'Little Shop of Horrors' Remake
A Singing Plant. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. A "Glee" Writer. A Broadway Producer. Just don't feed the plants. Yep, they're doing another Little Shop of Horrors remake. Variety was the first to report on the news that Warner Bros is in the works on another Little Shop with "Glee" co-producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa in early negotiations to write the screenplay. THR, on the other hand is reporting that actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is partially developing the project "with an eye to star," and also that Marc Platt, producer behind Broadway's Wicked and films like Wanted and Legally Blonde, is producing the remake. Dang quite a team. ›››

Robert Pattinson Next Enlisting in the Military for 'Mission: Blacklist'
While his starring role in David Cronenberg's thriller Cosmopolis (which Alex will check out at the Cannes Film Festival later this month), will surely help him shed the image of a sparkly vampire, it sounds like Robert Pattinson is looking to blow away the memory of The Twilight Saga's Edward Cullen with his next project. Deadline has a press release that says Pattinson will star in Mission: Blacklist, a military thriller based on a book by military interrogator Eric Maddox with Davin Seay which chronicles the inside story of the search for Saddam Hussein from the point of view of Maddox himself who spearheaded his capture. ›››

Jon Favreau Back in Front of the Camera for a Role in 'Identity Theft'
I'm guessing this week will be one of the best Jon Favreau has ever had. The Iron Man and Iron Man 2 director blew away everyone's expectations with his first entry into the superhero genre, and laid the groundwork for The Avengers, which I'm sure you all know hits theaters this Friday. Favreau executive produced that film, which is already breaking box office records overseas, and now Variety reports that he'll star alongside Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy, and Amanda Peet in Seth Gordon's upcoming comedy Identity Thief. Chalk up another highlight for the man who played Tony Stark's bodyguard Happy Hogan. ›››

Steve Coogan Lands Role in 'Despicable Me 2' and More Cast Returns
So far only a minion rendition of The Beach Boys song Barbara Ann has teased the forthcoming sequel Despicable Me 2, which won't hit theaters until next summer. But more news of the voice cast is still slowly making its way online. We know Steve Carell will reprise his role as the dastardly but charming villain Gru and now Heat Vision has word that Kristen Wiig, Russell Brand and Miranda Cosgrove will all reprise their respective roles as Miss Hattie, Dr. Nefario and Margo from the original film. In addition, Steve Coogan will have a new role in the film, and he may even be voicing multiple characters. ›››

Luke Evans Offered Jason Statham's Villain Role in 'Fast & Furious 6'
Just recently a rumor sprouted that Rihanna, who will make her big screen debut in Battleship this summer, might be in the mix for a villain role in Fast and Furious 6 (which just added Michelle Rodriguez back into the mix). While the jury is still out on that one, it seems like she wouldn't be the main villain as Twitch has word that British actor Luke Evans, who can currently be seen in The Raven, has been offered the lead antagonist role, a part that was originally meant for Jason Statham before The Transporter himself turned it down. Evans is basically a less gruff version of Statham, so it's not inspired casting, but it makes sense. ›››

Michelle Rodriguez Returns for 'Fast & Furious 6' and 'Machete Kills'
Rob Cohen's The Fast and the Furious put Michelle Rodriguez on the map back in 2001. Her appearance in that movie laid the groundwork for the actress to carve out a solid career as a badass in multiple action films, including S.W.A.T., Robert Rodriguez's Machete, and a little movie you may have heard of called Avatar. But now Rodriguez is going back to her roots, as Variety reports she is coming back behind the wheel for director Justin Lin in Fast and Furious 6, and she's also reprising her role as the eye-patch-wearing Luz in Robert Rodriguez's forthcoming Danny Trejo action sequel Machete Kills. More below! ›››

Elijah Wood Joining an Indie Thriller Described as 'Speed' at a Piano
If finding Ryan Reynolds stuck in a grave for 90 minutes in Buried wasn't enough of a stationary suspense thriller for you, then you might want to pay attention to this new indie flick. Heat Vision reports that Elijah Wood will star in Grand Piano, a thriller from The Last Exorcism 2 writer Damien Chazelle and Spanish director Eugenio Mira (who also composed the music for Timecrimes and several other films under the name Chucky Namanera). The story follows a once-great concert pianist who suffers from stage fright and comes back to perform after a five-year hiatus. That seems daunting, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. ›››

Wagner Moura Set to Play Titular Director in 'Fellini Black and White'
The work of Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini is studied in film schools and appreciated by cinephiles the world round, but there's one part of his career that is a large unknown. In Los Angeles, in March of 1957, Fellini made his first journey to the United States to attend the Oscars. However, the director went missing for 48 hours and almost didn't make it to the ceremony himself. Now a new film called Fellini Black and White attempts to explain (though not necessarily with any factual evidence) what happened in those two days before the director went back to Italy. Even greater, though, is the supporting cast of the film. Read on! ›››

'Battleship' Star Rihanna Rumored to Play 'Fast and Furious 6' Villain
When the dust settled after the chaotic conclusion in Fast Five, the fifth installment in the popular Fast and Furious franchise made over $209 million worldwide and cemented fan interest in seeing the series continue. The addition of Dwayne Johnson as the relentless Agent Hobbs gave an extra burst of energy to the franchise, and now it appears director Justin Lin is looking to add some more to the mix in Fast and Furious 6. Last week, Haywire star Gina Carano entered negotiations to join Johnson's team, and now The Daily Mail reports that Battleship star and pop singer Rihanna is coming on board as a "sultry villain." ›››
