Towards the end of last month, we got good news straight from one of the horse's mouths as Simon Pegg revealed that he and Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright had finished their second draft of The World's End, the final installment of the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, also known as the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy. Now we have even better news as Deadline reveals Working Title has set a September start date for the film which also brings Nick Frost back to the big screen with Pegg to finish this beast of a comedy trilogy once and for all. Watch: 'The Eagleman Stag' Stop-Motion Award-Winning Short Film
Earlier this year we featured the entire Oscar winning animated short film (The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore) and, despite my love for Pixar and their film La Luna, it was easy to see why it won the Oscar. It's the same case here again, with the short that won the 2011 BAFTA for Best Animated Short, titled The Eagleman Stag about "Peter Eagleman", made by UK animator Mikey Please. The short is beautifully stop-motion animated and made out of this white, foam that adds a very unique aesthetic to the overall story. I always love discovering great work like this and I highly suggest seeing the entire film below. ›››

Beastie Boys' MCA & Film Distributor Adam Yauch Has Passed Away
It's pretty hard to have gone the past few decades without hearing the Beastie Boys. From tunes like Fight for Your Right to Intergalactic and more, their music has been all over the radio and various film soundtracks (including a somewhat controversial inclusion of the track Sabotage in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot). That's why we're sad to hear from TMZ that the group's founding member Adam Yauch (better known as MCA) has passed away at 47-years old. You may not know it, but his contribution to the film world is quite substantial as he directs music videos and short films under the name Nathanial Hörnblowér. ›››

'Skyfall' On Set: Observing a Bond Shoot Out First Hand in Istanbul
For as long as I can remember, as long as my dad has shown me movies, I've been a James Bond fan. I've seen all 22 multiple times, own well-worn copies of all of them on VHS, DVD, everything. Bond has always been one of my favorite series. I've dreamt of one day stepping into his world, visiting Pinewood Studios, but I never thought, one sunny April afternoon, that I would literally find myself standing on the set of a James Bond film. In the middle of an action scene. In the middle of a crowded marketplace in Eminönü in Istanbul... waiting for Bond to grab his Walter PPK and fire off shots. But somehow, this dream came true. ›››

InGen's 'Jurassic Park' Dinosaur DNA Can Be Yours for Only $5,000!
While I'm sure people around the world would be willing to pay an exorbitant amount of money to actually venture into Jurassic Park, we're just going to have to settle for the blockbuster films on the big screen. Jurassic Park IV is apparently on the way with Steven Spielberg producing, and the original film will return to theaters in 3D for the film's 20th anniversary, but for those die-hard fans of the adventure 65 million years in the making, there's a special treat for you on the internet. If you've got $5,000 lying around the house, you can get your hands on the actual dinosaur DNA that Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) tried to steal. ›››

Second Mystery Credits Scene for 'Avengers' Arriving This Weekend
Last month, the interwebs were all abuzz with a rumor, started by Robert Downey Jr. himself, that yet another credits scenes was going to be shot for The Avengers after the press junket that followed the premiere just the night before. Kevin Feige was bombarded with questions about the potential scene, and he merely said, " "I will tell you this: It was not a scene. It was not a scene. There's little things. It's been blown out of proportion." He even said, "There is the potential that there will be one little change. People might not even notice it. It's not a big thing." Well, it sounds like he's a liar. More below! ›››

Benedict Cumberbatch's Mystery 'Star Trek 2' Villain Finally Revealed?
Though "Sherlock Holmes" star Benedict Cumberbatch has been known to have a villainous role in the forthcoming Star Trek sequel in J.J. Abrams rebooted sci-fi franchise, the specifics of his character have been kept under tight wraps. Though rumors circulated early on that the villain would be the iconic Eugenics War leader Khan Noonien Singh (originally played by Ricardo Montalban) from the original series who later went on to be the most praised villain in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, that fact became unclear after Benicio del Toro fell out of the role. Now we have confirmation of who the actual villain will be. ›››

First Poster for 2012 Sundance Favorite 'Beasts of the Southern Wild'
After making quite a splash at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (Alex gave a rave review of the magical film which you can read right here), Fox Searchlight picked up the phenomenal drama Beasts of the Southern Wild, slated to hit theaters this summer. The film is led by newcomer, and mind-blowing young actress Quvenzhané Wallis, a six-year old girl called Hushpuppy who is faced with her father's fading health and environmental changes that release an army of prehistoric creatures called aurochs. Hushpuppy sets out on her own to try to find her mother and has an experience that might change her life. ›››

Video Blog: Universal Hits CinemaCon with 'Oblivion', 'Bourne' & More
Wrapping up our coverage of CinemaCon, and putting one hell of a cap on the convention in Las Vegas, was Universal's big presentation Thursday evening. The studio brought any and everyone, including stars from most of their big summer movies, like Kristen Stewart from Snow White and the Huntsman, and Jeremy Renner of The Bourne Legacy. Not only did we get to see brand new footage from both of those movies, Universal unveiled a lot, and showed a lot, including completely raw scenes compiled from only a few weeks of shooting on Joe Kosinski's Oblivion and Carl Rinsch's 47 Ronin, as well as other surprises. ›››

Video Blog: Fox Brings 'Life of Pi', 'Prometheus', 'Taken 2' to CinemaCon
Yet another studio presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, this time hosted by 20th Century Fox looking at their upcoming slate of movies in 2012. Their panel was a unique presentation focusing on the content, and it delivered. The most impressive footage we were treated to was an early look at Ang Lee's adaptation of Life of Pi, the unfilmable novel that looks like it may be a very strong Oscar contender. Fox also showed new footage from Ridley Scott's Prometheus, Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Akiva Schaffer's comedy Neighborhood Watch and Olivier Megaton's sequel Taken 2, which looks badass. Fire up the latest vlog! ›››

The First Official Photos from Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'
Though it's still early, after the first teaser poster for Quentin Tarantino's western Django Unchained, it's clear that the excitement level is already high for the film starring Jamie Foxx as a freed slave named Django who, under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz), becomes a deadly bounty hunter. After helping his German mentor, the two team-up to track down Django's wife Broomhilda and finally liberate her from the villainous plantation owner Calvin Candie played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Now we have our first look at the film including our unlikely heroic duo and quite a despicable villain. Look! ›››

Laser Projection at 55K Lumens, HFR, 48FPS - The Future of Cinema?
This week is the industry convention CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the yearly tradeshow for the movie theater industry, both the exhibitors on one side, and the movie studios on the other. While we do get presentations from Hollywood showcasing their upcoming movies, this is also a major convention for technology, and looking towards the future. Ever since the controversial, divisive showcase of The Hobbit footage in 48FPS earlier this week, everyone has been buzzing about how awful it looked, and whether 48FPS really is the future (or not?). But today I saw a laser projection demo and whoa - this is the future I cannot wait for. ›››

Mondo's 'Avengers' Posters: Thor, Iron Man, Hulk & Captain America
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Hawkeye and Black Widow have already gotten their own posters from Mondo, but now all of The Avengers are assembled on their own individual posters. Martin Ansin has delivered an amazing poster for Thor, while Phantom City Creative is behind Captain America's star spangled poster, Ken Taylor crafted the smashing black and green Hulk print and Kevin Tong crafted the colorful blueprint style poster for Iron Man. Each of these posters is truly spectacular, and I wish having each and every one of them on my wall wasn't going to be so damn difficult or expensive. See all the posters below! ›››

First Look: Boat, Boy & Tiger in Ang Lee's 'Life of Pi' Movie Revealed
Meet Piscine Molitor Patel, aka Pi, and his feline friend. Those of you who are fans of Yann Martel's novel Life of Pi have been anxiously awaiting to see Oscar winning filmmaker Ang Lee's cinematic take on it, and how he's planning to pull off a story that involves a tiger and a boy stuck on a boat together for 227 days. Our friends at CriterionCast (via The Film Stage) have found the first look at Suraj Sharma as Pi and the tiger on the boat, giving us our very first glimpse at this film, prior to Fox's big reveal at CinemaCon later this week (likely with footage). It's a good photo, and certainly has me intrigued to see much more from this. ›››

Video Blog: WB's CinemaCon Footage: 'TDKR', 'Hobbit', 'Great Gatsby'
This is why I love CinemaCon (formerly known as ShoWest). Warner Bros always rocks Las Vegas with a presentation looking at their upcoming movies that leaves me giddy (honestly) with excitement. Of course I'm incredibly excited for Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises already, but we got to watch a totally new sizzle reel of ~5 minutes of footage, and it took me to levels of pure cinematic exhilaration. Beyond that, we were treated to ~10 minutes of fresh footage from Peter Jackson's The Hobbit shown in 48FPS 3D, and raw footage from Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby in 3D. Immediately after we recorded a video blog. ›››

Target Craftily Assembles Store Products to Promote 'The Avengers'
Yesterday brought news of a new art exhibition at Gallery 1988 honoring The Avengers when the film is released next weekend, and Mondo already kicked off their poster series with prints for Black Widow and Hawkeye (with more coming sometime this week). Now Target is getting in on the fun with a cool series of ads from Wieden + Kennedy that take various products sold in their stores (including toys of the assembled comic book heroes and lots of Dr. Pepper) and combined them to form various shapes representing heroes like Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man himself. They're quite impressive. Look! ›››
