First Look: Bloody Elijah Wood in Franck Khalfoun's 'Maniac' Remake
Yep, he definitely looks like a maniac. A few weeks prior to its official Cannes Film Festival premiere (it was a late addition to the line-up), our friends at The Playlist have got their hands on the first three photos from Franck Khalfoun's Maniac, a remake of the 1980 cult classic slasher flick of the same name. Actor Elijah Wood stars in this new version as the psychotic young serial killer who terrorizes NYC's women and takes their scalps home as his trophy. The other beauty you will see below (not the mannequin) is French actress Nora Arnezeder, last seen in Safe House as the lead girl from that. Curious photos to grab your attention. ›››

Watch: Whimsical Trailer for Indie 'Crazy Eyes' Starring Lukas Haas
"I will die without Crazy Eyes!" Strand Releasing has debuted the official trailer for indie dramedy Crazy Eyes, starring Lukas Haas and Madeline Zima and Jake Busey. This quirky little dramatic comedy is set mostly in Los Angeles, following a "rich boy" who meets a girl unlike anyone he calls "Crazy Eyes" that he can't have, but of course there's all kinds of tension and drama and things going on. I'm a fan of Lukas Haas, you may recognize him from Brick or Alpha Dog or Death in Love or Inception or Contraband, and I like seeing him in good lead roles where he really fits the role. This looks intriguing, I'm curious to check it out. ›››

First Solid Trailer for Cop Drama 'End of Watch' with Jake Gyllenhaal
"Watch your six." Open Road has debuted the first official trailer via for David Ayer's End of Watch, a new cop drama about two young police officers who get into deeper shit with drug cartels than they can handle. Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña play Officers Taylor and Zavala, respectively. This is the cop indie we've been hearing about from Ayers (Harsh Times, Street Kings) that uses POV and various cameras, and it looks intense and intriguing, but I'm always weary of Ayer. Sometimes his films can be a bit dry, but at least there seems to be some story. Cast includes Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera and Frank Grillo. ›››

First Official Trailer for Sundance Smash 'Beasts of the Southern Wild'
"A storm's coming!" Fox Searchlight has unveiled the first official trailer via Apple for Benh Zeitlin's award winning, highly praised, beloved indie smash from Sundance this year, Beasts of the Southern Wild. This is the film that I, and pretty much everyone else, fell in love with and it went on to win the Grand Jury Prize. The adorable little Quvenzhané Wallis plays Hushpuppy, and Dwight Henry her father Wink, but there are no other names, though that doesn't matter. This is a film made with passion, telling an incredible story, with amazing characters, in a vivid world, and it's still one of the best films I've seen this year so far. ›››

First Poster for 2012 Sundance Favorite 'Beasts of the Southern Wild'
After making quite a splash at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (Alex gave a rave review of the magical film which you can read right here), Fox Searchlight picked up the phenomenal drama Beasts of the Southern Wild, slated to hit theaters this summer. The film is led by newcomer, and mind-blowing young actress Quvenzhané Wallis, a six-year old girl called Hushpuppy who is faced with her father's fading health and environmental changes that release an army of prehistoric creatures called aurochs. Hushpuppy sets out on her own to try to find her mother and has an experience that might change her life. ›››

Found-Footage Frankenstein Coming from 'V/H/S' Team Radio Silence
The horror anthology V/H/S had enough great buzz at this year's Sundance Film Festival (watch Alex and Ethan's video review) and at the South By Southwest Film Festival (read Jeremy's review) that it ended up getting scooped up by Magnolia Films for a release later this year. The film was directed by a bunch of different up-and-coming directors, one of them being a quartet who operate under the name Radio Silence. Well it looks like their work paid off, because Vulture is hearing that the team will next be tackling a found-footage Frankenstein movie for Lionsgate called The Reawakening. Wait, what? More below! ›››

Watch: Charming Indie 'A Buddy Story' Trailer with Elizabeth Moss
"Sometimes I pretend you're singing to me." This looks adorable, especially because it has Elizabeth Moss ("Mad Men") and the more I see of her, the more I fall for her. And in this, she pretty much knocks me out, there's just some amazingly cute charm in that face of hers. Yahoo has posted the official trailer for an indie film called A Buddy Story, written & directed by Marc Erlbaum, starring Gavin Bellour as a struggling solo musician in New York who lives with his pet turtle. I haven't heard of this before and wasn't sure what to expect, but by the end was sold, this looks like a charmer and the perfect kind of indie to discover. Enjoy! ›››

First Official Poster for Lesbian Werewolf Film 'Jack & Diane' is Here
Love is a monster. I hear so many complaints about the crappy Hollywood movie posters we feature, here's finally a poster that I think is unique, eye-catching, bold, and impressive for an indie, and I hope you guys all agree! Vulture has unveiled the first official poster for Bradley Rust Gray's Jack & Diane, that "lesbian werewolf" film we've been following its development for over five years. They finally made it, shot it, and it's ready to make its premiere at the Tribeca Film Fest. Jack & Diane stars Juno Temple as Diane, and Riley Keough as Jack, two teenage girls who meet in New York City, and start to notice changes after a night of kissing. Take a look, this is a great poster, bravo to Bradley Rust Gray for kicking things off on the right foot. ›››

Watch: Crazy New Red Band Trailer for 'High School' Indie Comedy
"You did get the whole school high!" Yea, today is 4/20 if you didn't notice, but instead of actually releasing this entire pot comedy film today, Anchor Bay has put out just another new red band trailer for John Stalberg's comedy High School on Hulu. It's essentially the exact same as the recent trailer, but without any jokes censored, with an extra bit of nudity unnecessarily thrown in, and more marijuana shenanigans. High School is also the crazy ass comedy that stars Adrien Brody as drug dealer Psycho Ed, and he's one of the best part of this. Matt Bush, Colin Hanks and Michael Chiklis also star. Fire up this one below. ›››

Another New International 'Cosmopolis' Trailer with Robert Pattinson
Finally the first film about our new millennium. Just before being announced as an In Competition entry at Cannes 2012 this morning, the first full-length trailer for David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis hit, sending cinephiles into a tizzy over its seductive debauchery and dark Cronenberg vibe. Out of nowhere, Twitch has followed up with an entirely different full-length Cosmopolis trailer that highlights many of its fantastic cast members. We already know Robert Pattinson stars as the billionaire who takes his limo around New York, but Samantha Morton is in it this time, so is Kevin Durand and even Paul Giamatti. See below! ›››

Fun Trailer for 'Little Miss Sunshine' Directors' Comedy 'Ruby Sparks'
Ruby who? Yea, haven't heard of this before either. The co-directors of indie smash hit Little Miss Sunshine, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, are back after six years with a new romantic comedy titled Ruby Sparks, that almost has a somewhat familiar feel to Stranger Than Fiction. Actress Zoe Kazan wrote the script and plays the titular Ruby Sparks, a female character from one of Calvin's novels, who suddenly exists in real life one day. Paul Dano plays the struggling author, joined by Antonio Banderas, Annette Bening, Steve Coogan, Elliott Gould, Chris Messina & Deborah Ann Woll in the cast. The trailer just arrived online. ›››

Dustin Lance Black's Drama 'Virginia' Gets a Deceptive Official Trailer
E1 has debuted a trailer for Dustin Lance Black's Virginia, originally What's Wrong with Virginia?, a drama about a "psychologically disturbed woman" which played at film fests in 2010. Jennifer Connelly stars as Virginia, with Ed Harris, Emma Roberts, Harrison Gilbertson and Carrie Preston. The film was highly disliked by many critics who saw it at fests, including our friend Brad Brevet of RopeofSilicon, who goes so far as to point out: "I despised the film on most every level, but speaking about it now, and seeing this just released trailer for it, I can tell you right now they aren't selling the film for what it is. Even the opening scene shown in the trailer is a lie. In the film it doesn't play as comical as much as it is tragic." ›››

Watch: Wild Teaser for 'Errors of the Human Body' Genetics Thriller
"You're unique, you see... but at the moment you're a bit of a danger to yourself." What the hell is going on in this? Twitch (via TheMovieBox) has unveiled a teaser trailer for an indie film called Errors of the Human Body, directed by Eron Sheean, some weird scientific, supernatural thriller set in the world of human genetics. Starring Tomas Lemarquis, Rik Mayall, Karoline Herfurth, with Michael Eklund (The Divide) as a tortured scientist working passionately on a regeneration gene. It starts out with almost a Chronicle-like tease, then gets very wacky midway through, but it certainly got my attention. Take a look! ›››

First Flashy Sales Poster for Neil Jordan's 'Byzantium' Vampire Thriller
Irresistible. Immoral. Immortal. What a tagline. Ready for yet another vampire film to keep an eye on, if you're interested? London production company WestEnd Films has revealed some rather flashy sales poster artwork on their official Facebook (via ONTD!) today for the upcoming vampire thriller titled Byzantium, directed by Neil Jordan, about a mother and daughter vampire duo who form a deadly pact. That mother-daughter duo is played by Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton, who you can kind of see on this in a red dress staring out past the huge neon sign. It's a unique style, I hope it represents the tone of the film as well. ›››

Review: Bousman/Zdunich's 'The Devil's Carnival' One Hell of a Night
The stage is set, the curtain lifts, and director Darren Bousman and writer Terrance Zdunich have graced us with another twisted yarn of dark ideals in fantastic worlds set to some seriously catchy songs. The Devil's Carnival isn't set in a sci-fi world like Repo! The Genetic Opera, the duo's first trek into ambitious, musical fables, rather the underworld, the depths where sinners lie. Call it Hell. Their conceit is hefty, their execution is moodily carried off, and The Devil's Carnival becomes a tale even more giddy in tone yet grim with its underpinning than Repo! With an added pre-shows as part of the road show events ›››
